Opening Ceremony and Reception
#IBWSS19 will kick off on Sunday, March 24 at 5:30 pm EDT with an opening ceremony with remarks from the U.S. Coast Guard, Japan Coast Guard and other dignitaries followed by a reception in the IBWSS Expo Hall. We’ll hit the ground running on Monday morning with general and breakout sessions, followed by more engaging sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Learn about the latest in recreational boating and water safety at the IBWSS Expo! Mingle during the opening reception on Sunday (6:30 pm – 8:30 pm), Monday (7 am – 5 pm), and Tuesday (7 am – 1:30 pm). Be sure to visit the Expo Hall for continental breakfast (7-8 am) and lunch (noon – 1:30 pm) on Monday and Tuesday. Take advantage of the opportunity to explore, talk to exhibitors and find out a few answers for the Scavenger Hunt!
IBWSS Scavenger Hunt
Complete the #IBWSS19 Scavenger Hunt for a chance to win prizes! Pick up your Scavenger Hunt clues on Sunday with your registration bag and submit responses by Tuesday morning at Registration. Pick up additional clues on Tuesday, and return by Wednesday morning to Registration. Hint: Talk with exhibitors, wander around the hotel, and take a few selfies for a chance to win! Up to 5 winners will be randomly selected and honored at the Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, March 27 from noon – 2 pm.
Pool and On-Water Sessions
On Tuesday afternoon, attendees have the opportunity to choose between classroom, pool or on-water sessions. Be sure to pack your swimwear and SPF.
Pool Sessions | Winston Family YMCA
Fun afternoon at the pool with engaging sessions on inflatable life jackets, water weight buoyancy, alternative buoyancy devices and man overboard demonstration. Take a short half-mile walk or catch the shuttle to these sessions. You are welcome to observe or participate by jumping in the pool. Swimwear required for participants. Be sure to review the shuttle schedule in your registration bag and on the mobile app.
On-Water Session | St. Johns River at The Landings
Observe a simulated BUI enforcement boarding led by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Meet in the lobby and join others for a short 5-minute walk to The Landings. The session will be offered four times so you may participate in a pool session, return to the hotel to walk to The Landings, observe the on-water session, and return to the hotel for a classroom session. Be sure to review the on-water and classroom sessions schedule in your registration bag and on the mobile app.
Sit back, relax and enjoy an evening with the #IBWSS19 crew! Great opportunity to network and meet with other attendees. Find us in the Tampa Suite from 8:30 pm – 10:30 pm on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
Tour of Mustang Survival | Sponsored by Mustang Survival
Thank you Mustang Survival for this unique opportunity! You must sign up in advance for the tour when you pick up your name badge at registration; limited to 48 attendees. The tour will be on Monday, March 25. Please meet in the hotel lobby; bus will depart at 5:15 pm. Due to restrictions, only U.S. citizens may attend the tour. Please bring a driver’s license and/or a U.S. Passport for admittance. You MUST have your conference name badge that you received at registration to be admitted onto the shuttle and into the facility. Must wear closed-toe shoes. No cell phones allowed in the facility.
Small Group Dinners | Sign up in advance at registration
Stop by registration when you pick up your name badge to sign-up for small group dinners offered on Monday evening. Great opportunity to network with leaders in recreational boating and water safety in a small group setting. Each person is responsible to pay for their own meal. Various locations within close distance from the Omni Jacksonville Hotel.
